Fuel Surcharge Policy
Effective October 1, 2026
How the Fuel Surcharge Works
- The fuel surcharge allows us to keep up with, recover and offset the cost of diesel we use to operate our fleet of trucks and dispose of waste.
- The fuel surcharge is a fluctuating percentage of all invoice charges. The percentage changes on a monthly basis as the cost of diesel fuel changes.
- The percentage is based on the Weekly Retail On-Highway Diesel Prices chart that the Energy Information Administration of the U.S. Department of Energy publishes on its website, which reflects the national average price of diesel fuel.
- We use the national average price of diesel fuel from the Gulf Coast on that chart to calculate the fuel surcharge percentage each month, as set out in the fuel index below. For example, if the Energy Information Administration fuel rate is $5.95, the fuel surcharge will be 6%.
See the current national average diesel price on the U.S. Department of Energy website.
